Cookies and browser storage

Last updated 2026-07-20

This site does store things in your browser. Most of it belongs to the push notification system, and none of it is advertising or analytics.

What gets stored

OneSignal push data
The OneSignal web SDK loads on every page of this site from OneSignal's content delivery network. It writes to your browser's local storage and IndexedDB to hold a push subscription identifier, its own configuration, and a record of whether you have already been asked for notification permission. If you allow notifications it also registers a service worker (the file OneSignalSDKWorker.js at the root of this domain), which is what makes it possible to deliver a notification when this page is not open.
Notification permission
Held by your browser, not by us. We ask; your browser decides and remembers. Declining is completely safe and nothing on this site depends on it.
Google Fonts
Two typefaces are requested from Google's font servers. That request carries your IP address to Google, and your browser will cache the font files.
Server logs
Not browser storage, but worth listing: our host records requests, including IP address and user agent, for security and uptime.

What is not here

No analytics package, no advertising or retargeting pixel, no social network embeds, no A/B testing tool, no session recording, no behavioural profiling, and no consent-management vendor. There are no cookies of our own on this site. We do not sell or share reader data with anyone for their own purposes.

Everything stored on your device by this site exists to deliver notifications you asked for, or to render two typefaces.

How to clear it

Clearing any of this does not break the site. Nothing on eldervane is behind a login or a preference.

Where the rest of the detail is

Who processes this data, where it goes, how long it is kept, and how to complain to the OPC or the CAI are set out in the privacy notice.
